It was back to LM GT3 action over the weekend, and back to a very special place. Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, or Imola as we know and love it.
We have been making great progress across the ELMS season, so far, and each session has been a step change from the one before. The Grid Motorsport / TF Sport set up are doing a great job, every week, and we are really getting into the window of performance with the Vantage GT3 Evo, which has proven itself on the highest platform already, taking victory at the Spa 24 Hours last week.
Our weekend started well, and all sessions ran well, with the setup feeling strong around this amazing track. We headed into qualifying on the front foot, and Martin did a fantastic job to keep us in the fight at the front, and underlined the pace we had shown. Things were looking promising, and that was reinforced in the race.
It was a busy opening to this latest four hour race, and we were at the sharp end throughout. It was great to be able to battle during the middle stint, and it was shaping up for us to in a position to challenge going into the final stages. A bold strategy at the last stop gave us an opportunity to be in a podium position until the final stages, but we needed a little bit of luck.
We kept the fight going to the flag, crossing the line in P4, but it was more than the result. It shows our intent and our continued improvement. Small steps or large, we keep progressing with every lap; finding pace and enhancements in the performance window, which is really exciting as we head to Spa.
