Kicking off the new British GT season at Oulton Park

It is great to be back! Over the years, British GT has really felt like home, and it is always a special feeling to be welcomed by the British fans. This weekend was no exception, and it was fantastic to see so many friendly faces who braved the weather to come out and support us.

A new season, a new team, and a new teammate for me, but the goal doesn’t change. We are here to fight at the front. Racing with the team at Blackthorn AMR, and running in the Vantage GT3 with Giacomo Petrobelli, who is new to the championship, despite his strong list of successes.

Overall, it was a weekend with some challenges, but with plenty of positives as well. We were always chasing some performance, so we aren’t quite where we want to be just yet, but it is early in the programme. The main thing is that we are making steps forward with every session, and we were in the fight during both races.

It was great to move up into the top-10 during the opening race. We kept out of trouble, ran a clean race, and brought the car home, which is always a key objective when it’s a double header. Race 2 was full of incidents, and Oulton Park delivered changeable weather again to spice things up even more. It was great to be in the top-10 battle again during my stint, and a real disappointment to have contact just before the pitstops which dropped us down the order. Incidents elsewhere meant we were then limited on green flag running, so it was difficult to show what we could really do on the drying track, but we managed to recover a few places.

We always knew Oulton Park would be a big push, and we leave with some points on the board, which is a good start to the season. Next up is Silverstone, which is a different type of circuit, and brings a whole different set of opportunities. We will reset, look to build on the good foundations we have in place, and go again.
